Monday, May 6th 2019

 1.  Beer at the Pier Concert Series – 4p to 7p
Baywood’s famous Monday “Beer at the Pier” concert series continues indoors at La Palapa- Baywood Mexican Restaurant!   The restaurant opens at 4:00 for food & drink & music goes from 5:00 – 7:00!   This week is live music from the Turkey Buzzards! Stop by for some live music and great food!

2. 805 Food Truck Night – 5p to 7:30p
Join the 805 Food Trucks for 1st MONDAYS at Bang the Drum Brewery. They will be bringing some of the best LOCAL food trucks for a fun, foodie night featuring Cubanissimo Food Truck, Feed My Seoul, AR Catering & Beau’s Dogs!

3.  Swing Dance at Madonna Inn – 8p to 11p
The SLO Ruggcutters are excited to announce the debut of MarciJean & The Belmont Kings. They will be playing LIVE at their weekly swing dance session! Dancing at Madonna Inn starts at 8pm, is completely free, and all are welcome.  Not a swing dancer yet? 4.  Talks on Tap! Why should we care about nature? – 6:30p to 8:30p
Join 7Sisters Brewing for their next “Talks on Tap” event, where experts, nerds, and other people-in-the-know tell us all about a fascinating topic while everyone sips beer! Dr. Harry Greene, author and professor emeritus from Cornell University, will give a presentation entitled “Natural history and esthetics: why should we care about nature?” He will discuss how the diversity of life on Earth is under serious threats from human-related causes, and how science plays well-known roles in addressing management aspects of this problem. Don’t miss this one, folks!

Wednesday, May 8th 2019

5.  SLOFD Bike Breakfast – 7a to 8:30a
Ride over to San Luis Obispo Fire Department (SLOFD) and enjoy pancakes, coffee, and fruit. Enjoy breakfast with your community and kickstart your morning in San Luis Obispo.

6.  Bike to School Day – 7a to 9a
National Bike to School Day provides an opportunity for communities across the country to join together to celebrate safe, active transportation and, where needed, to bring attention to necessary changes so more kids can safely bicycle to more places. Participation in the annual event grows in SLO County every year! The success of Bike to School Day is thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of tens of thousands of students, parents, volunteers, school administrators, elected officials, and community leaders. 

7.  Behind the Vines Top Winery – 5p to 7p
Pony – /pōnē/ noun: a small drinking glass. Join TOP wines for a “pony” this Wednesday. They will be pouring a flight of 2017 Axis, 2016 Inertia, and 2016 Exert and glasses of wine. The Pony Club Wine Bar is the perfect spot to kick back and enjoy a wide selection of premium Paso Robles wines while listening to some of the Central Coast’s best live, local music. Enjoy a variety of drink options and their wine-friendly menu of small bites, appetizers, and small plates.

8.  YPNG May Hike – 6p to 7:30p
Join YPNG (Young Professionals Networking Group) for their monthly hike. This trail is an easy climb up a dirt road out East Cuesta Ridge with a great view of SLO. This hike is for all skill levels! Don’t forget to bring water and a friend. Difficulty: Moderate. Elevation gain : 800 feet. Distance: 2-4 miles (round trip, depending on speed). Estimated Time: 1-1.5 hours.

9.  Comedy Night at Bang the Drum – 7:30p to 9:30p
Weekly comedy show featuring touring and local comics all for one dollar.  Beer and food are available for purchase. Open mic at 7:30pm. Showcase at 8:30pm. Limited spots available for the open mic, sign ups close at 7:25.

10.  The Spotted Whale Consignment Sale – May 10-11 – (Please check link for specific hours )
The Spotted Whale will be returning to the Madonna Expo! This is SLO County’s largest consignment sale held in the Central Coast’s largest indoor event space. Purchase maternity, baby, and child products that are new and like-new at amazingly unbeatable prices. Selling at The Spotted Whale is also a great way for families to clean out their closets, make money, and save money.  You don’t want to miss this semiannual event!

11. Succulentopia – May 10 – 10a to 6p || May 11 – 9a to 1p
Calling all our nature lovers and gardeners. It’s time for Succulentopia! Browse through over 4,000 plants available for purchase. This student-run project is one of several experiences offered by the university’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences’ Horticulture and Crop Science Department.

12.  Amgen Tour of California Fill the Boot Fundraiser – 5p to 8p
The Fill the Boot Fundraiser will celebrate Pismo Beach as the Stage 5 Start Host City for the Amgen Tour of California and serve as an opportunity to raise funds to benefit California Wildfire Victims. Enjoy live music with Jineanne Coderre and Steppin’ Out Central Coast’s Finest Dance Band, BBQ and kids meals, Signature Cocktails, Silent Auction, Cal Fire Engine meet & greet and photos for kids, Fill the Boot/Bucket – fundraiser, and Smokey Bear.

13.  Turntable Supper Club: Spanish Tapas – 6:30p to 9:30p

Turntable Supper Club is a pop-up dinner series collaboration between Sally Loo’s and Danior Kitchen (Chef Spencer Johnston). This special event occurs once a month on a Friday evening. Each dinner is centered around a cuisine of the world and is locally and seasonally-sourced. Price includes multiple courses and tastings of wine from the region of the meal. Dinners are family-style and community seating. Max occupancy of 38 people. Tickets are $99 per person!

14.  Funk Comes First at Bang the Drum – 6:30p to 10p
FTF starts fresh with Santa Cruz funk band Jive Machine and Ethan Burns of The Ragged Jubilee opening. Proceeds support Outside Now and their environmental youth programs. Come ignite the love to start off our fourth year with a bang! All ages, $12 door (12&under free), food by Beda’s Biergarten.

15.  Sugar Daddy Swing Kings at SLO Vets Hall! – 7:30p to 11p
ONE NIGHT ONLY! Paul’s Brown’s Sugar Daddy Swing Kings return for a special evening of great big band swing jazz and dancing. The event is open to all ages and this will be a great night for all swing dancers. Tickets are $10 each.

16. Miracle Miles for Kids – 8a to 12p
When you lace up for this year’s Miracle Miles for Kids, you run for a reason! At any given time, there are over 900 children in foster care in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties who need support and services.   Miracle Miles for Kids is a fundraiser created to provide private funding to allow FCNI to fully support the crucial needs of children, youth and families impacted by trauma. Youth: FREE, Student: $25, Adult: $50.

17.  ASF Walk Paso Robles – 9a to 5p
Come join us at the Atascadero Lake Park Bandstand to raise donations to help find a cure for Angelman Syndrome. Bring your family out for a great day of fun to raise money for a good cause. There will be a BBQ, silent auction, corn hole tournament and much more! Registration begins at 9am and the walk will begin at 11am.

18. SLO Train Day – 10a to 4p
SLO Railroad Museum be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad completion along with the contributions made by the Chinese and the Irish in building our railroads. It all takes place at the historical Freighthouse. Bring the kids out to enjoy running model trains, activities, railroad displays,  presentations, and tours. There be a special performance by the Cal Poly Lion Dance Team and traditional Irish Music performed by David Foster Evans.  Admission is $5 per visitor 16 and over, $3 per visitor aged four through 15, and those aged 3 and under are free. Admission for Museum Members is free; you may join at the door.

19.  Arroyo Grande Yard Sale Day – 10a to 2p
Do you have a mountain of items that no longer “spark joy?” Come to the Arroyo Grande Village-wide Yard Sale Day and find your new treasure! The event is free & open to the public!

20.  Creamery Marketplace Celebrates Mother’s Day – Noon to 4p
The Creamery Market Place will be hosting an open house and Mother’s Day Event this Saturday! Stop by and enjoy shopping and dining with mom!

21.  Templeton Wine Festival 1p to 5p
Enjoy wine, beer, food, boutique vendors and live music at beautiful Templeton Community Park on Mother’s Day Weekend. The Templeton Wine Festival is produced by the Templeton Chamber of Commerce.  Tickets are $35 pre-sale until Friday May 10th at Noon and then $45 at the door. Admission includes unlimited wine tasting, souvenir wine glass, live music, and unique specialty food samples, plus boutique shopping booths. Come out and enjoy the gorgeous spring weather!

22. Taittinger Educational Tasting – 12:30p to 1:30p
Somm’s Kitchen is thrilled to be pouring a Lineup of Taittinger Wines. Taste 5 of their wines with all different styles including the current “Comtes de Champagne” release. This is a great opportunity to learn about the varieties used, the aging process and quality levels. $45 per person.

23.  Mother’s Day High Tea at the Dallidet – 1p to 4p
Let’s elebrate daughters, mothers, grandmothers (and sons and fathers too) by experiencing this great British tradition. Enjoy a full traditional Afternoon Tea with all the fixings, to celebrate Mother’s Day in style in the beautiful Dallidet Gardens. Under 13 $15 || Over 13 $50 per person

24.  Tour By Chocolate – 4p to 5:30p – SOLD OUT!
The newest event to be offered by Prelado de los Tesoros, TOUR BY CHOCOLATE will take place at La Purisima Mission State Historic Park. On this walking tour you will be led through various rooms of the mission experiencing the history and uses of chocolate at the mission from centuries ago to the present day. At each stop on the tour chocolate will be shared, ending with delicacies of chocolate covered strawberries and a very special cake at the finale presentation. Tickets are $30 per person.

25. BHBC 6TH Anniversary PARTY – 5p to 9:30p
Cheers to six years! Barrel House Brewing Co in Paso Robles is gearing up to throw a party to celebrate their anniversary. It will be a night you don’t want to miss. Enjoy craft beer cocktails, multiple live bands, scavenger hunt, brewers challenge beers and MORE!

26. Mother’s Day Brunch on Wheels – 10a to 2p
Come join us for another beautiful day at Brunch-on-Wheels! The best of the county’s local food trucks serving up specialized Brunch menus. The May Mother’s Day edition of Brunch on Wheels will feature live music by B & The Hive, lawn games, and the ever-popular Mimosa and Bloody Bars! All ages, admission, and parking now FREE!

27.  9th Annual Cookie Adventure – 11a to 2p
This Mother’s Day, the Charles Paddock Zoo is inviting everyone to bring your Mom to their 8th Annual Cookie Adventure! Local bakers will be on hand with lots of scrumptious cookies that mom and the whole family can enjoy! All Cookie Adventure guests will get to participate in a variety of fun activities and learn more about some of the unique animals to be found at the Charles Paddock Zoo, all while sampling some of the best cookies to be found on the Central Coast!

28. Mother’s Day in the Mission – Starts at 1p
Join us for a KCBX/Live Oak Mother’s Day celebration in SLO’s Downtown Mission Plaza. The event is FREE to the public and will preview two Live Oak 2019 performers: Moonshiner Collective and Carbon City Lights!

29. Pacific Breeze Concert Series – 1p to 4p
The Pacific Breeze Concert Series kicks off with a special Mother’s Day Concert to honor all of the Moms out there. Join us for this free concert featuring the Damon Castillo Band at Dinosaur Caves Park on Sunday afternoon with the entire family!

30. Mother’s Day Vegan Tea Party  – 2p to 4p
Please join Central Coast Vegans for a Mother’s Day Tea at Meadow Park in San Luis Obispo. Afternoon tea service will have bundt cakes, scones, finger sandwiches, salads, cupcakes and more! Come to pamper yourself, or pamper your mom, and have a lovely afternoon! There will be an adjoining playground and crafts for the kids. Professional chair massages available for purchase. Plus, there will also be a special tribute to moms by creating a space for remembrance and gratitude.  Tickets are $22 per person.
