The Crushed Grape is passing the torch to a new generation of talented gift basket creators. Twins Amber Karson and Emily Butler, of Karson Butler Events, are taking over and will be creating custom gift baskets at their historic Ah Louis Store later this spring! For 37 years, this beloved store has been a go-to source for custom gift baskets highlighting the finest wines, foods, and products from local purveyors, ranches, farms, and vineyards.
Karson Butler is no stranger to the gift-giving game. They opened their entertaining general store in the historic Ah Louis Building (800 Palm Street) in 2016, and have been delighting locals and visitors alike with their unique offerings ever since. The team at Karson Butler shares the same commitment to quality and supporting other small, local businesses as the Crushed Grape.
Emily Butler, Chief Creative Officer of Karson Butler, said, “The Crushed Grape has been a SLO gifting staple and we are honored to help carry Gretchen’s legacy on.” And carry on they will! The plan is to build on the Crushed Grape’s legacy, with a Karson Butler spin of course, and offer even more amazing gift baskets in the future.
But don’t worry, Crushed Grape fans – the store will continue to operate at its current location on Madonna Road through the end of April. And owner Gretchen Gonyer isn’t going too far either. She’s embarking on new adventures, including working on her daughter Brittany Carollo’s food truck Wandering Eats, developing a new internet souvenir and jewelry shop, creating a SLO Products cookbook, and volunteering.
So, if you’re looking for a unique and delicious gift basket that captures the essence of San Luis Obispo County, be sure to check out Karson Butler. And if you see Gretchen around town, be sure to give her a wave and wish her luck on her next adventure!
