Second Annual Pozo Saloon Old-time Music Gathering
November 10 @ 11:30 am
One event on November 10, 2019 at 11:30 am
The Second Annual Pozo Saloon Old Time Music Gathering returns to Pozo, California on Veteran’s Day weekend Saturday and Sunday November 9 & 10 for two days of jamming, along with music workshops and a Saturday evening concert from 5:30- 8pm featuring The SLO County Stumblers and the Have More Fun Stringband with a suggested donation of $10. Musicians from across California will gather on the front porch, back porch and all around the grounds of the historic Pozo Saloon to play traditional American music. This family-friendly gathering is FREE. Jamming begins at 11:30 on Saturday and Sunday, and all players of old time music are welcome.
In addition to the jamming, David Bragger and Susan Platz will offer a workshop on old-time duets with bowing. David and Susan are renown instructors and at least one of the duets will be from their critically- acclaimed album, King’s Lament: Old Time Fiddle Duets. Students will learn the tune AND a harmony (or “seconding”) part that emphasizes rhythm, chords and bowing. Bowing will be explicitly taught and broken down for the students in a fun and engaging way. There will also be a workshop offered by the ladies of Old Time Machine.
The Pozo Saloon offers tasty burgers, tri-tip sandwiches, salads and appetizers along with cold beer served in a mason jar and local wine selection. If you’re an old-time musician you are welcome to join in on the jams. If you want to hear some great musicians and eat a good meal, it’s worth the drive out to historic Pozo, California for Veteran’s Day Weekend.
