Film Night – Out There: A National Parks Story

San Luis Obispo, CA – The Central Coast State Parks Association (CCSPA) is thrilled to announce an evening of community connection, film, and live music at its Film Screening of Out There: A National Parks Story on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the historic Fremont Theatre in San Luis Obispo. In a time when our National Parks are under threat, let's learn how to best connect, respect and protect our local parks!

The evening will include a Welcome Hour & Park Market from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, featuring San Luis Obispo’s open space agencies, including State, County, and City Parks and Recreation departments, as well as local nonprofits that manage and steward these lands. Live music will be performed by the composer of the film’s music, Elizabeth P.W. and her band. During this time, guests will have the chance to “shop” park experiences, career opportunities, and get involved in supporting local parks. 

At 6:00 PM, the screening of Out There: A National Parks Story will begin. This 75-minute film provides an inspiring and educational journey into the heart of national parks, examining the role protected lands hold in preserving our environment, cultural heritage, and well-being.

After the film, there will be a Discussion Panel, featuring Brendan Hall (filmmaker), and local park representatives.
