The Piccolo Hotel officially opened its doors and she is a beaut. We got a preview Paso Robles’ newest luxury hotel and at their press party and grand opening this past Wednesday.
The hotel is owned by the Martin Resorts team which you may know for their other Central Coast California Hotels: Avila Lighthouse Suites, Pismo Lighthouse Suites, Shore Cliff Hotel, and the Paso Robles Inn. The Piccolo is the newest hotel in their collection and it’s 17,000 square feet of modern luxury.
At first glance, you’ll find a beautiful sitting room to your left and their wine bar, The Piper, to your right. The Piper is set to offer a curated wine list of local wines providing guests with an opportunity to taste Paso Robles without having to leave the hotel. Scroll to the bottom to see their wine list and pricing.
At the lobby, you’ll find a beautifully handcrafted reception desk. It was created by one of our favorite locals, Janine Stone of If You Give A Girl A Saw. Directly outside the lobby is a spacious outdoor lounge area with a 76-foot custom mural hand-painted with care by LA based California artists Hennessy Christophel and Sofia Lacin, co-owners of LC Studio Tutto. Lots of lounge seating and fire pits for guests to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.
The hotel has 24 rooms (one of them being a suite) and they are all handcrafted with love. We were able to speak with Margaret Johnson the Chief Operating Officer and we asked her favorite about her favorite part of creating The Piccolo. Her favorite thing is all the details, as much of its decor was created by local artisans. Each room has a gorgeous chandelier created by blacksmith, Hans Duus. There are also custom air plants designed and curated by Lauren Dunn of Dunn Gardens and Pepe Sanchez of Deadwood Revival. Throughout the hotel hallways, you’ll find portraits honoring all of the makers who helped create this beautiful building.
The hotel is four stories and at the top is a swanky rooftop bar called Tetto. Tetto is the only rooftop bar in Downtown Paso Robles, so take advantage and enjoy every golden sunset. This wonderful space has bar and lounge seating with firepits. Tetto offers a full bar and carries local spirits and wine such as: KROBÄ€R Craft Distillery, RE:FIND Spirits, Daou, Benom, COE, Epoch, L’Aventure, Linne Calodo, Rava, Clos Solène, Brecon, and MORE. All night they had charcuterie available for everyone! We spoke to the Director of Food & Beverage for Tetto and they are planning to have events monthly at the lounge and have hopes to feature local winemakers. At this time, only charcuterie plates are available for purchase.
As if all this weren’t exciting enough. I got to join the marketing team at the Moet Machine. Yes, you heard me right. And yes, I thought the exact same thing when they first mentioned it, “What the heck are you talking about?” Directly across from the reception desk is the central coast’s first and only Moet vending machine. Tokens are $25 a piece and can be purchased at the reception desk. You can choose between Moet Imperial or Brut Rosé. It’s just like using a traditional snack machine…except this is way better, because it’s champagne.
Rooms start at $499 a night. The drinks average out to $15 to $20 each. Click the photos below to see the full pricing menu below.
Overall a fun night! Thanks to The Piccolo for having us! Happy to see a new place in downtown Paso Robles, especially one with such stunning views. Make sure you stop by at least once to treat yo self!
