Covid-19 aka the Coronavirus is affecting small businesses throughout San Luis Obispo County. More than ever we need to work together to support each other. Here are 8 ways you can support your local community!
Shop Locally
This is the best time to shop small! With the grocery stores being wiped out of supplies you can buy from local purveyors! Consider buying produce from a local farmer, purchase food from a local restaurant and TIP GENEROUSLY, get coffee in bulk from a coffee roaster in the area, or buy products that are locally made!

Order Online
Want to skip the long lines or avoid crowds? Purchase your food order to go or shop online from small businesses for the products you need.

Download Media
Let’s face it! Those at high risk will want to be at home. Support small businesses by purchasing an online ebook, audiobook, or movie and download it to your devices.

Gift Certificates
Buy gift certificates from your favorite small businesses! This will give them income while you wait for the situation to improve. They also make fantastic gifts!

Subscribe
Keep your subscriptions! They keep small businesses afloat through hard times. Better yet…start subscribing. We are really lucky in the central coast to have wonderful subscription programs for fresh produce, wine, spirits, local products, and MORE!

Spread Positive Vibes!
Leave a positive review for your favorite business online! If you had to cancel a flight, hotel, or event and you got a full refund without them giving you a hard time, WRITE SOMETHING NICE ONLINE. It’s so hard for these businesses to make that choice and to lose money, please give them some credit! Share the love for your favorite businesses on a social media post by shouting them out with a photo, like, or comment. Go on Instagram, Facebook, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google Review or comment on their website.

Donate
Businesses and their staff members are/will be affected by this pandemic. Consider donating blood, food, or money to various charities. To donate blood go to Vitalant or the American Red Cross. To donate to a local charity or to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund from the World Health Organization. Donate to your local food bank so seniors and those financially affected can have access to food.

Volunteer
Volunteer to help seniors, hospitals, or local non-profits. Every little bit counts during hard times. Hospitals are experiencing an influx of patients so volunteer to give them a hand. Go to VolunteerSLO.org!

Create Art
Are you pent up at home? Get creative and go to your nearest art store and purchase products. Here is a list of local art stores! Art is beautiful and will help you destress from all the stress and negativity!

We hope these tips inspire you in positive ways!
