SLO County Happenings This Week!

Happy Monday everyone!
How are you doing?

(Are You Like Us?)

We’ve been trying to formulate how we are going to change up the newsletter to help our community further but haven’t solidified anything just yet. We are open to all sorts of ideas and suggestions if you have any.

EVENTS/THINGS TO DO

Join the Virtual Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt started in the North County this coming week. With all of the Easter egg hunts being canceled, the group thought it would be fun for families to work together and create/decorate a large egg and either place it in your front yard, on your garage or in a visible window etc. They currently have over 300 locations participating!

Last week California Grown Flowers, Ocean Breeze Farms, and Connected Communities came together just in time for Easter! Save a farmer by visiting their drive-thru flower pickup! They will have bunches of Gerbera Daisies and Lillies for only $10.

Color with your kids!

Nicki Lenore and Creature Comforts have created adorable downloadable/printable coloring pages for the kids to enjoy Easter!

Somm’s Kitchen is stepping up the food game with a set tasting and wine pairing menu for pick up! Upcoming wineries: Nelle, Full Draw, and Absolution.

Sip Certified will be hosting Sip with a Somm Thursday, April 16th. Join Ian Adamo of Somm’s Kitchen for an innovative new way to share food and wine pairings AND you can participate in your PJs! The event is free so sign up! It’s a great opportunity to see how a virtual tasting will be conducted.

FOOD

We have been patiently awaiting the opening of a north county ramen shop. This has been delayed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Happy to announce Momotaro Ramen has decided to create ramen kits for pick up! Follow them for more details!

Spencer Johnston of Danior Kitchen has a new ghost restaurant and will be offering delivery and pick up in north and south county.

For those who are in need of a meal or have a tight budget go to Old SLO BBQ! They are offering meals for free to the community with no questions asked! Or if you want to help out you can donate $5 so someone else can have a free meal!

Cass has been amazing at providing food for our hospitality workers. They will be doing Take N’ Bake Meals To Go in Atascadero and Morro Bay!

WINE

For those who are in the wine industry our dear friend Cristie Norman is offering her online wine course for FREE! Send her a DM on Instagram or Facebook for more info. Her classes are FAR from boring!

CAUSES

For the entire month of April, 15 businesses partnered with FARMstead Ed to set up small booths inside Nature’s Touch Nursery and Harvest. Twenty five percent of the proceeds being donated locally to help our medical workers who are working hard to save lives.

SLO County’s Restaurants are coming together to support their local purveyors and healthcare workers in this GoFundMe Campaign!

Great Resources

Are you in need of hand sanitizer? Check out Calwise Distillery! They are selling it at an affordable price! Bottles range from $5-10 and they sell a gallon for $35 for healthcare workers in the frontline.

Here is a list of food resources in SLO County for you to pass along.

Coming Soon…

  • We are working on our 2nd block party, details to come
  • For small businesses who are in need of social media guidance I will be at SIP Smart on 4/22 alongside Katie Bruce of Niner Wine Estates and Heather Deanitz of Craft & Cluster – we will discuss marketing through social media.
  • I’m currently helping with Adopt A Neighbor.  It’s a great community where we all help our locals. The vibe is casual and helpful.
