Ornament Gift Guide 2019

How many of you out there love holiday ornaments? To us, they are tiny tokens of love that always bring us smiles. They also hold special memories of events, people, and places. In the spirit of the holiday season, we went out in search of the cutest locally handmade ornaments we could find.

“Life is SLO Sweet”

Price: $10-18

Inspiration: “I didn’t know a single person when I moved to SLO two years ago, but it so quickly became home. Since this place totally has my heart, my hand-sewn felt California ornament includes a on SLO (or custom location by request), and my SLOglobes feature an original design on hand-painted white or green discs. Also, wine county culture has made #slolife so sweet; I was inspired to create grape cluster ornaments and phone stands made out of corks. These items make great gifts!”

“Antique, Unique & Custom For You!”

Price: $8-12

Inspiration: “The Junk Girls was born out of Art Therapy for Jenny, and Melissa’s love for all things handmade. We focus on creating Art, Lighting, Furniture, Jewelry and Home Décor and we strive to create everything using recycled, repurposed, vintage, antique and found items from the USA. We have a passion for giving found, vintage & forgotten objects a new life & purpose.”

Where to buy: Purchase items custom made on their Etsy Shop or visit their retail store in downtown San Luis Obispo: 870 Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo, CA 9340

Price: $24

Inspiration: ” I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and a Science Illustrator on a mission to make the world a better place for orphaned, injured, and rescued animals. Through Woollybear Travels, I go to animal sanctuaries around the world and volunteer my services as an animal nurse, where it’s legal, or do general volunteer work if it’s not. I write about the animals I meet, the people who are helping them, and create artwork based on my experiences. A percentage of the profits from my art sales go directly to the sanctuary who inspired the piece. My goal is to bring awareness to these special places to let you know how you too can visit and help these animals.”

“Hand painted ornaments filled with detail and love”

Price: Starting at $15 – Orders can be custom made!

Inspiration: “I’ve always loved to draw and paint, but didn’t realize this passion would turn into a purpose. I have two children who have Lyme disease and co-infections and our family has been deeply affected. Life sucks sometimes, but it’s all about how you choose to handle it, and I had to change my mindset. I turned to art as a form of self-therapy. Turned my passion into a purpose which is now a business. So many things inspire me. I see something that sparks something and then my wheels start turning in my head. I am sure it was a combo of things though. The girls at Ambiance have inspired me so much with their awesome ideas. I do remember walking through Michael’s and seeing the clear ornaments and saying to myself, “I know I can make something beautiful with those.”

“Where’s your Christmas spirit???”

Price: $12

Inspiration: “I looked on my grid the other day & I was like where is my Christmas spirit??? Had to get a little tree + macramé ornament action on here 🎄 Amidst the madness my husband & I finally went out & got our tree this weekend & I am smitten. There’s such an air of magic this time of year. I’ve been feeling like a little elf lately making making making, so I’m trying to be conscious of taking moments to sit & soak it in.”

“Representing your hometown”

Cost: $12-$15 (Accepts Custom Orders)

Inspiration: “We were inspired to make the ornament because we love the Central Coast community we are a part of and we wanted to celebrate and share with others who feel the same. As a small family business, we live on our family’s 7th generation cattle ranch in rural SLO County. We started the business in 2015 to pursue our creative passions and spend more time together as a family. We have found a true passion for helping our customers express and display their personality, values, and brands through our metalwork. ”
