Girls In Aviation Day

The County San Luis Obispo Department of Airports is proud to announce it will host the inaugural Girls In Aviation Day in San Luis Obispo County on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Oceano Airport. This global event, led by Women in Aviation International (WAI), is now in its 11th year and introduces young people to the many career and educational opportunities in aviation and aerospace.

This free, family-friendly event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is open to girls and boys ages three and older. The day will feature interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and opportunities to meet aviation professionals, all designed to spark curiosity and encourage exploration of the aviation and aerospace industries. These fields represent critical systems in our region’s economy, both now and in the future, and this event provides a unique platform to showcase their importance to local prosperity and workforce development.

By bringing Girls In Aviation Day to our community for the first time, the Department of Airports is strengthening its commitment to outreach, education, and public engagement. The event not only seeks to inspire future aviators and aerospace leaders but also highlights Oceano Airport’s role as a hub for community connection and as a catalyst for supporting industries vital to the Central Coast’s economic growth.
