Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca – Searching for Goya

Noche Flamenca’s latest creation is an evocative flamenco performance inspired by the powerful imagery of Francisco de Goya. Artistic director Martin Santangelo reimagines the artist’s work through riveting choreography, original music, and expressive storytelling. With vibrant costumes, lighting, and masks designed by Mary Frank, each scene delivers a visceral journey through Goya’s vision.

Praised by The New York Times as “raising the dead with Goya,” the production explores humanity’s beauty, darkness, and contradictions.

With guidance from Goya expert Mark MacDonald of The Met, the piece offers fresh interpretations of works like El Quitasol, Perro Semihundido, and Duelo a Garrotazos. Through flamenco’s emotional depth and raw energy, this performance captures the enduring power of Goya’s art and the universal truths it still reveals.

The Boston Globe boasts that Noche Flamenca is ”Internationally recognized as one of Spain’s most respected troupes, this is Flamenco in its pure essence”
