Free Stained Glass Demonstration with Lara Fields
Lara Fields will be offering a free demostation entitled Light in Motion: Creating Movement in Stained Glass with Lara Fields. Join us at the Art Center Morro Bay on April 26 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Bio:
Lara Fields is a contemporary stained glass artist based on California's Central Coast. Her background spans multiple mediums: painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media, before finding in stained glass a medium that could do what the others couldn't. Working in the medium for six years, she creates original works organized around evolving series that use the fluidity of light and color to make rigid glass feel alive and in motion. Her work has been shown in solo exhibition, placed in private commissions, and exhibited at juried art fairs on the Central Coast.
Demo:
Stained glass is a medium with dimensions that painting doesn't have. It transmits light rather than reflecting it, responds to its environment, and projects color into the space around it. In this demonstration, Lara Fields works live on a new piece while talking through the decisions that shape it: where lead lines go and why, how glass selection drives the feel of a composition, and what it actually takes to make rigid glass feel like it's moving.
Medium: Stained glass, lead came construction
Subject: New work from my Octopus Series: a partial tentacle composition exploring motion and dimension in glass
