Postcards From Armenia

An evening of memory, longing, and musical homecoming.

Postcards From Armenia is a deeply evocative concert experience that brings together the timeless voice of Armenia’s great composers with a bold new artistic response for the present day. Through music that spans generations, this program traces a dialogue between past and present.

The evening features masterworks by Komitas, the foundational figure of Armenian classical music whose transcriptions of folk melodies preserved the soul of a nation; the lyrical brilliance of Arno Babajanyan, whose expressive harmonies blend romanticism with Armenian color; and the beloved melodic voice of Robert Amirkhanyan, whose music captures both tenderness and national character.

At the heart of the program is the world premiere of Conversation With Komitas by Deon Nielsen Price, a new composition that imaginatively engages in musical dialogue with Komitas himself. This premiere is not merely an homage; it is a living conversation across time. Through reflection, reinterpretation, and artistic response, the work explores how Komitas’ spirit continues to resonate in contemporary composition and global cultural identity.

Performing this remarkable program is the Shell Piano Trio, an internationally recognized ensemble dedicated to presenting Armenian classical and contemporary music on the world stage. Having performed in concert halls across Europe, the United States, and beyond, the trio has built a reputation for artistic excellence and cultural advocacy. Their performances are marked by precision, emotional depth, and a profound commitment to the music they champion. Soprano Marine Chahinian joins the ensemble for this special evening, bringing her luminous voice and expressive artistry to further enrich this powerful musical journey.
